The teaching of indigenous languages in Nigerian schools has continued to pose serious challenges to Nigerian Students today as Parents have a tendency to measure their children’s performances through the use of the English language.
As Nigeria has 520 distinct languages study is usually restricted to those stated as official languages in the Nigerian Constitution. The Federal Republic of Nigeria National Policy on Education, (NPE) states each child must study two languages, namely his mother-tongue, if available for study, or any other indigenous language of wider communication in his area of domicile.
Therefore, in keeping with this policy, as part of the curriculum, we offer the study of Hausa as the language of the area of domicile.
