Modern Languages

A modern language is any human language that is currently in use. The term is used in language education to distinguish between languages which are used for day-to-day communication and dead classical languages such as Latin and Classical Chinese, which are studied for their cultural or linguistic value.

Today we live in a global village.  There is little that happens anywhere in our world that does not affect people living in other areas.  Learning another language must be part of every student’s preparation.   No longer can we rely on speaking only English as an effective tool for communication, multilingualism is a key skill now required by employers.

Our language department is ready to make a difference in preparing young people for life in the 21st Century.
