The GIS Day program titled “2023 GIS Day Nigeria” was held on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th of November, 2023 at NAF Conference, Kado, Abuja. The theme of the program was “Celebrating the GIS Professional” sponsored mainly by JAMINTA Technology and Esri, one of the number one producers of GIS software, the Office of the Surveyor General of Nigeria, National Population Commission, Abuja Geographical Information System, Federal Capital Territory Authority, Nigerian Communication Commission among other collaborating GIS stakeholders in Nigeria and globally.
Our students successfully prepared and defended a project that impressed the audience. The choice of project topic, and our students’ impressive and excellent performance were highly commended and applauded by all present. Start-Rite Schools was presented with an International Award of Outstanding Performance in Geographic Information Systems and the Director of Esri stood up and personally expressed his appreciation for the outstanding performance of our students and promised to further collaborate at the international level especially since other developed countries of the world do present their students’ projects at international conferences.
A door is now open to showcase students of Start-Rite Schools students at future GIS international exhibitions, as a proof that the Nigerian child can achieve so much if provided with the right tools in the right learning environment.
